National Footwear Cares month kicks off tomorrow.

More than 100 shoe companies will be dedicating their time and resources at 83 food banks, soup kitchens, homeless shelters, environmental groups, youth programs, senior centers, schools and hospitals in 22 states during April as part of Two Ten’s National Footwear Cares Month. Sponsored by Amazon Fashion, the charitable foundation and co-chairs Jeanne Markel (Zappos/Downtown Project) and Scott Briggs (Keds) are hoping to replicate the success of last year’s outing–and then some. A whopping 6,500 footwear volunteers have signed up to lend a helping, um, foot, compared with 3,000 in 2013.

Adidas teams up with Pharrell.

Just when you thought the Grammy Award-winning, Oscar-nominated, hat-loving Pharrell Williams couldn’t get any busier, the mega producer goes and teams up with Adidas on a range of Originals. Adidas will collaborate with Williams’ Bionic Yarn coming from The Vortex Project, an initiative with Parley for the Oceans to turn plastic debris into yarn and fabric. Man jailed for New Jersey shoe store heist sticks up the same store 15 years later.

Christopher M. Miller, 40, was arrested Saturday after reenacting the same crime that landed him in the slammer 15 years years ago. A little more than 24 hours after he was freed from prison for his attempt to rob a Stride Rite store in Toms River in 1999, he returned to the scene of the crime to commit the act again, according to police. After grabbing $389 from the register, he bolted but was caught a few blocks away. He is now being held in the Ocean City County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail.

Vans launches a #LivingOfftheWall short-film documentary competition.

Inspired by the wave of creativity that came with the launch of #LivingOfftheWall, Vans is inviting aspiring filmmakers from all over the country to share their stories for the chance to win a $50,000 donation toward completing a personal film project. Be a Documentarian is looking for 3-6 minute short-film documentaries that share each filmmaker’s interpretation of living “off the wall.” A panel of judges will review eligible videos and determine a winner based on creativity, originality, appeal and technical quality.
