Wolverine Worldwide announces key leadership changes and additions to accelerate global growth.

Wolverine Worldwide has announced several organizational changes in an effort to strengthen its senior leadership team and accelerate global growth. James D. Zwiers, who has held significant roles during his 16 years with the company, has been appointed president of the international group. James A. Gabel, most recently president of Adidas Group Canada, will succeed Zwiers as president of the performance group, which is comprised of the Merrell, Saucony, Chaco, Cushe and Patagonia brands.

Outdoor lifestyle brands Quiksilver and Roxy have teamed up with Flip Flop Shops on two limited edition flips to be sold exclusively at the retail chain’s 100-plus locations in support of its The Heart to Sole: Creating a Stress Free America campaign. Throughout the month of June, Roxy and Quiksilver will donate 50 cents from the sale of each sandal to the American Heart Association’s My Heart. My Life. initiative for a total of $20,000.

Party people brought their A-game to Two Ten’s Young Professionals event.

FDRA names Wolverine Worldwide Advocate of the Year.

Wolverine Worldwide and its Merrell brand have been honored with two key awards from the Footwear Distributors and Retailers of American (FDRA). The company received the Advocate of the Year award, while Merrell was chosen as the inaugural winner of the Brand Focus award, a new award given to the brand deemed “most-loved” by scoring the highest brand loyalty among footwear consumers in the United States.

New Balance is suing Karl Lagerfeld.

Karl Lagerfeld, the long time creative director of Chanel, is being sued by New Balance. A lawsuit, obtained by entertainment site TMZ, details the Boston-based brand’s complaint, describing the shoe that is says is causing “confusion” for its customers. New Balance claims the K motif on the $370 sneakers sold under Lagerfeld’s eponymous label is too similar to the N logo it’s been using since the ’70s.

Police confiscate $3 million worth of shoes in Kentucky.

Riddle me this: How does a $3 million shipment of Nike shoes vanish into thin air in 2009 and resurface on a front lawn in Kentucky in 2014 going for $5 a pair? A woman in Radcliff, KY, and her daughter told local media outlets that they had bought them off another woman and had no idea they were stolen. They planned to sell them at a flea market. The Radcliffe Police Department have since confiscated thousands of Nike shoes that were scattered in front of their home.

Skechers sponsors California Chrome’s run at the Triple Crown.

Skechers has added yet another sports string to its bow of sponsorships. The Manhattan Beach, CA-based brand today announced that it will sponsor thoroughbred racehorse California Chrome as he contends at the Belmont Stakes on June 7 to become the first Triple Crown winner since Affirmed nabbed the title 36 years ago. Trainer and owner team jackets, caps and apparel as well as California Chrome’s horse blanket, gear, barn and related promotional events will all feature Skechers branding.
