Soles4Souls has announced a new partnership with Dick’s Sporting Goods to collect gently-used athletic shoes through a national shoe donation campaign. From Oct. 10-18, customers can donate outgrown or unwanted athletic shoes in a designated Soles4Souls drop box at more than 570 Dick’s Sporting Goods locations nationwide.
Soles4Souls has been awarded the Memorial Foundation Leadership Award from the Center for Nonprofit Management (CNM), and was presented with $10,000 at the CNM’s Salute to Excellence Awards Banq
For more than 90 years, parents have protected kids’ feet with Stride Rite, and now the Lexington, MA-based brand wants to help families across the United States find homes for their gently worn and previously loved footwear. The company, which has partnered with The Little Gym, is anticipating a massive donation of shoes to benefit the Soles4Souls “Big Hearts, Little Shoes” donation campaign. The initiative kicked off this month and continues through the end of September at Stride Rite stores, online at striderite.com and at Little Gym locations nationwide.
In response to the recent earthquake and tsunami disaster in Japan, Dansko has committed $125,000 in shoes and financial aid to industry charity Soles4Souls. Dansko employees made monetary donations with the West Grove, PA-based company matching each dollar contributed.
The Rocky Brands outlet store located at the company’s headquarters in Nelsonville, OH, became a place where people came not to acquire, but to drop‐off shoes when Soles4Souls, an organization that collects and re‐distributes gently‐worn shoes to people in need, made the store one of its stops on its cross country RV shoe collection tour.
Fashion footwear company Michael Antonio stepped out in support of Stop Child Trafficking Now (SCTN) on Sunday, Sept. 27, sponsoring a Stilettos Run to kick off a fundraising walk in support of the cause. Despite rainy weather, approximately 320 people (both women and men!) participated in the New York race, setting a new Guinness world record.
Macbeth Footwear’s limited-edition sneaker designed by Mike Dirnt, bass player for the popular alternative rock band Green Day, is racking up donations for Soles4Souls.
Sold exclusively at Journeys since June, the “45 RPM Schubert” (available in lo- and hi-top versions) is priced at $79.99 retail and, according to Macbeth representatives, is 100-percent vegan with zero animal products used in the construction. The shoe comes in black highlighted with distressed gold lining and eyelets and showcases custom 45 RPM record artwork.
For most children, receiving piles of presents from friends and family is the highlight of their birthday party. But for one special Indiana girl on her ninth birthday, it meant collecting new and gently worn shoes from her friends to donate to Soles4Souls (S4S), the Nashville, TN-based shoe charity.
