New Balance makes a donation to One Fund Boston.

New Balance today announced a $1 million donation to One Fund Boston, the fund set up by Mayor Thomas M. Menino and Governor Deval Patrick to aid those directly impacted by last week’s Boston Marathon bombings. In addition to this donation, any contributions by company employees with be matched by the New Balance Foundation. “The events at the Boston Marathon shook the streets of Boston, but not the spirit of our city,” Vice President of Administration for New Balance Anne Davis said.

New Balance will co-host news conference in DC tomorrow

In light of ongoing negotiations for the Trans Pacific Partnership and changes to U.S. trade policy, New Balance and RPFMA (Rubber and Plastic Footwear Manufacturers Association) will discuss the importance of supporting U.S. jobs and domestic footwear manufacturing at a news conference on Capitol Hill tomorrow, July 18. The Boston, MA-based brand is currently the only athletic shoe company that manufacturers footwear in the U.S., with 25 percent of its U.S.

See New Balance’s new “Backpack” collection

New Balance updates its ever-popular M574 for Fall and bows the “Backpack” collection, a lineup of five fresh colorways in a heavyweight ballistic nylon, a material that’s usually reserved for – you guessed it – backpacks. Retailing for $70, the kicks are topped off with a brown suede logo and tongue, white laces and an ENCAP sole and hit stores on July 1.

For New Balance, it meant bringing bloggers and fashion stylists to a swanky underground New York bar to create a custom pair of American-made shoes while sipping custom cocktails—named in honor of some of the nation’s most iconic figures, like Johnny Appleseed.

New Balance in Gear with Pro Cycling’s Garmin-Cervelo Team

New Balance has signed on to be the official athletic shoe and compression apparel partner for off-bike training for the Garmin-Cervelo pro cycling team this year. As part of the arrangement, New Balance will provide athletic footwear and compression apparel to the team of 64 riders for all off-bike activities as part of their conditioning program.
