Fleet Feet Celebrates Global Running Day with “The Big Run”

Racing with the momentum of increased consumer interest in running.

Today is Global Running Day, and Fleet Feet is celebrating with its annual “Big Run.” Stores across the country host 5K races and fun runs to unite communities nationwide. Open to runners and walkers of all abilities, participants get a chance to get outdoors and connect with their local running scene.

The Big Run is for everyone who enjoys moving. We realize running can be intimidating – especially if you don’t know how to get started,” offers  Tiffany Lee, senior director of performance marketing and partnerships for Fleet Feet. “If you need encouragement, a way to meet new people, build running relationships or just want to try something different, The Big Run is a great place to start because it’s a manageable 3.1 miles.”

The retailer also partners with Brooks to offer training plans focused on The Big Run, so first-time runners can feel prepared and capable of finishing – and celebrating – their race. The run is piggybacking off of growing momentum in the running space, which continues to draw new fans of late. “We’re on track to open 15 new stores this year to serve the growing number of runners in both new and existing markets,” Lee adds. “We’ve also seen an uptick in engagement across our social channels from people seeking expert advice, guidance, and ways to connect with their local running communities.”

At each event, participants will have the chance to receive prizes and swag from The Big Run’s sponsors and event partners. Additionally, Michelob ULTRA, The Big Run’s Presenting Sponsor, is partnering with Fleet Feet to host a sweepstakes for three winners (over 21, of course) to receive entries into the Bank of America Chicago Marathon and the TCS New York City Marathon.
