Trask re-launches for Fall ’13 as Trask, featuring a premium line of footwear, leather goods and accessories for men and women – all made from hand-selected hides. “When we decided to do this we knew there was space out there in the marketplace on to use some unusual materials and take this vision of outdoors and authenticity, Americana and independence, and really make it special,” says Jon Caplan, president of Genesco Branded Group.

Footwear designers take inspiration from their furry friends for Fall ’13 with embroidered and bedazzled animals taking center stage on a smorgasbord of flats. Donnie Darko-style bunnies emblazon stud-encrusted ballerinas at Ivy Kirzhner, while Nine West’s Boutique 9 label adds some animal instinct to its velvet smoking slippers with zebras and French bulldogs. Vegan brand Beyond Skin will donate a percentage of profits from the sale of its horse slipper to charity and stylist and reality star Rachel Zoe is sure to be a fan of Nina’s leopard medallion pointed toe flats.
