Target today announced it’s collaborating with purveyor of downtown cool Phillip Lim on a fall collection for men and women. Hitting stores and online on September 15, 3.1 Phillip Lim for Target features a range of apparel and accessories in a neutral palette, including shoes, bags and travel accessories. Prices for the 100-plus pieces range from $19.99 to $299.99. “Phillip is a designer we’ve had our eye on for years. His aesthetic is modern and sophisticated and he shares Target’s vision of democratizing design,” says Trish Adams, senior vice president of merchandising.

Nike applies its Flyknit technology to a street-worthy silhouette.

Guests, including musicians Eve and Raekwon and styling duo Dee & Ricky, had the opportunity to check out the not-yet-released product, which pays tribute to G-Shock’s 30th anniversary. Perrier, Stoli Premium Vodka and Heineken provided refreshments, while music by Flying Lotus and DJ Mirandom set the mood.

Jean Nouvel adds footwear design to his stacked resume

French starchitect Jean Nouvel has added another notch to his design belt with Pure, a capsule collection of sneakers in collaboration with Italian label Ruco Line. Available in black, white, yellow and fuschia, each minimalist shoe ($430) is lined in calf leather with a 50-mm rubber outsole. The only detail on its surface is a printed stamp with its style and color code, product name and production date. As Nouvel explains, “The aim was to get a form that could wrap the foot completely.”

Speaking in her capacity as founder of lifestyle resource Goop and co-owner of the Tracey Anderson brand, Paltrow will discuss her strategy for global expansion. The free presentation will be followed by a question and answer session with Paltrow and Anderson.
