Stuart Weitzman Releases Campaign Video for Women’s Empowerment

Global brand ambassadors Aly Raisman, Christy Turlington, Issa Rae, Lucy Liu, and Ming Xi star in "How Lovely to Be a Woman."

Stuart Weitzman dropped a new campaign film this week, and it features some pretty famous faces. Global brand ambassadors Aly Raisman, Christy Turlington, Issa Rae, Lucy Liu, and Ming Xi star in “How Lovely to Be a Woman.”

A celebration of modern womanhood, the campaign features a remake of “How Lovely to be a Woman” from the 1963 musical Bye Bye Birdie. The iconic lyrics are paired with vignettes of each (multihyphenate) woman’s life. The juxtaposition reclaims the original song as a celebratory anthem of women’s empowerment.

New York City–based director Matvey Fiks fuses his modern, documentary style with Stuart Weitzman’s signature black-and-white campaign imagery. The film reflects the many roles women play throughout the day, the pressure they withstand, and their ability to stand strong through it all.

I like that the campaign is about women sharing our personal stories about what it means to each of us to be a strong, confident woman today by also living a life of purpose.” — Christy Turlington

Each spokeswoman wears silhouettes from the brand’s most iconic collections. Think the 5050 Collection of mixed-material styles (like the 5050 over-the-knee boot), the Stuart Collection’s pointed toes and clingy shapes, and the Nudist Collection of minimal coverage and aesthetics.

To celebrate the launch of the new campaign film, Stuart Weitzman hosted a screening at the Crosby Street Hotel in New York City on September 4. Ambassador and actress Lucy Liu attended to share her personal experiences in “claiming her confidence” with Lydia Fenet, the bestselling author of the namesake book Claim Your Confidence.

The event kickstarted a new “Stuart Weitzman Stand Strong Series: Conversations About the Pleasures and Pressures of Modern Womanhood.” The brand will host a series of discussion forums throughout the Fall 2024 season, created with the goal of fueling more conversations about what it means to simply be a woman today.
