Shoe of the Week: Nina Village Clog

The brand celebrates its 70th anniversary by re-releasing styles from its 1953 archive.

Nina Archive Collection: The Village Clog

To celebrate its 70th birthday, Nina shoes has released an Archive Collection of styles from its original 1953 offerings. An absolute standout is the Village Clog, a patchwork denim mule with a printed platform bottom. The design is inspired by the “hip Latin beat and cool patchworks created in our workshop in Greenwich Village in the 1950s.”

Plus, the denim-on-denim in this limited-edition mixed material slide is impeccably on trend today. And it’s all in the details with faceted antique nail heads and contrast stitching. Each sculptured one-piece bottom was hand-dipped with a unique water process to re-create the original music note and paint splatter design.

“Nina was an instant success, with its unique, fun and flirty handmade clogs and patchwork details. We captivated everyone from the hip, mod girls in downtown Greenwich Village to the vibrant Miami scene and Hollywood’s fashion elite. Whether she was standing out at a poetry reading or walking the runway in a beauty pageant, women who knew fashion chose Nina. We were loved for our creativity, style and comfort, and still are today,” — Flori Silverstein, daughter of co-founder Stanley Silverstein and the designer behind the Archive Collection.
