Released May 11, Chaco launched a custom Z1 Cloud Sandal with Beams, a Japanese clothing brand and retailer. The two heritage brands have come together to create a subtle spin on a classic. Chaco’s Z/sandal wears a “crazy mix” of throwback webbing that gives all of the shoes a different look — including the left and right.
The retro look is echoed in the shoe’s marketing, intended to reflect an ’80s magazine ad. Chaco’s Z/Sandal made its debut in 1989, and the first Beams shop opened in Harajuku in 1976. The vintage aesthetic lends undeniable cool factor, naturally paired with the brand’s famous comfort. A ChacoGrip rubber outsole boasts an extra layer of soft polyurethane to cushion every step, and the unique strap design delivers a custom fit.
