Glerups Releases First Lace Shoe

The Danish comfort brand is slipping into the sneaker market.

If you’ve ever wanted to wear your slippers out of the house, there’s good news: Danish brand Glerups has just launched its first lace shoe. Like the brand’s beloved felt slippers, the Langdal shoes strive for year-round, everyday wear with natural comfort.

The sneakers are the result of more than 30 years of development and design. Styles feature uppers made with 100% pure, natural wool and soft, chrome-free leather, organic cotton laces, and a natural rubber outsole. As a part of Glerups’ Project Zero Waste Initiative, insoles and midsoles are constructed with coconut, a residual product from the food industry, to enhance comfort underfoot.

The shoes are available in six colorways, and Charcoal and Brown offer varying outsole color options. Styles retail for $250, and like the brand’s slippers, they can be worn with or without socks, thanks to itch-free wool covering the insole. Four layers of heel counter offer stability and comfort, and laces are made from organic cotton.
