Crocs Actually Parody is a Cinematic Masterpiece

Are comfortable and fashionable shoes a work of fantasy?

In a new social media video promoting Crocs’ new fashion-forward line of loafers, the brand parodies Twilight in an epic saga. Our protagonist, Stella, falls in love with a forbidden fruit — alluringly comfortable Crocs. “Don’t you get it, Stella, I just want you to be comfortable?” the dreamboat (vampire?) love interest asks. Stella replies that she wants to look good, but dreamboat counters that he can now offer both. The video ends with, “the Crocs are out of the bag.”

In the video, the brand pokes fun at its own low-fashion reputation. Clearly, it’s winning over consumers of all ages as Crocs sees a massive resurgance in interest (as well as high-fashion collabs with designers like Simone Rocha). The brand reported a 6% first quarter revenue growth over last year to its investors.

The video comes on the (squishy) heels of the brand’s 2023 comfort report, released last month. Within, Crocs pledges to create “a more comfortable world for all” through inclusivity, climate stability, circularity, and community.
