Aetrex is Cornering the Outdoor Sports Technology Market

CEO Larry Schwartz on the brand's new Edge Orthotics line for high-impact sports.

Aetrex has been applying its comfort technology to the outdoor sports market for some time, partnering with leading names in the industry. Now, the brand is upping the ante with a new proprietary technology, Edge Orthotics, specifically designed for high-impact activities like skiing, snowboarding, hiking, and mountain biking.

“Aetrex is a technology-led company at its core with a mission to help people feel great on their feet, whether for everyday activities, sports, or hi-impact activities,” offers CEO Larry Schwartz. “Our state-of-the-art foot scanning technology captures consumer’s 3D measurements and pressure data underfoot which we use to develop our footwear and orthotics.”

The brand currently works with brands and retailers in the outdoor and winter sports categories including Bauer, DaleBoot, Sun & Ski Sports, Darkside Snowboards, and Trek. “Through our retail partnerships with select ski and snowboard shops, we are seeding our orthotic products with select store associates who are also avid skiers and snowboarders to gain insights and share our innovations,” he explains. “And through our unique partnership with Bauer, hockey athletes at all levels are using our 3D foot scanning technology and utilizing our Bauer/Aetrex Orthotics, available at all U.S. hockey retailers.”

Schwartz is hopeful the new Edge series will serve to grow these partnerships and expand the brand’s presence in the category. What’s unique about the line, he says, is that the orthotics offer all of the stability and support needed for high-impact sports but with a slim forefoot profile to maintain a comfortable space in the toe area, making them ideal for outdoor footwear that can have limited toe boxes. This can help prevent and alleviate common foot conditions like Plantar Fasciitis, Arch Pain, and Metatarsalgia.

In addition to the outdoor series, Aetrex introduced new Customizable Orthotics, which include removable gel pods that target high-pressure areas, providing wearers with adjustable pressure relief and optimal arch support. The ability to personalize the fit ensures that each wearer receives the appropriate support for their foot shape.” Aetrex offers different orthotic styles for various shoe types and activities. We also provide an assortment of configurations within each style based on an individual’s arch type and pressure points,” Schwartz offers. “Our focus on technology and deep understanding of feet allows us to offer the best orthotic solutions for high-impact sports and outdoor activities.”
