Night runners everywhere rejoice! No longer shall you drape yourselves in reflective jackets and vests. And for those of us who use the pending sundown as an excuse to get out of jogging with friends (you know you are) the end is nigh. Vibram has debuted a concept sneaker with built-in LEDs that project light on the ground and can be switched between three brightness settings. A flashing red tail light provides added visibility.
Two Ten Footwear Foundation announces scholarship fund for U.S. veterans.
Two Ten Footwear Foundation this week announced The Footwear Warrior Scholarship Fund, developed exclusively for military veterans in or returning to the footwear industry and made possible by an endowment fund launched by Quabaug Corporation, Vibram and the Donahue family with an initial committment of $125,000. The fund is donation driven with a goal of $250,000, which will yield an estimated $12,500 in scholarships on a yearly basis.
Vibram’s Vet Project
With heart and a lot of rubber sole, Quabaug Corporation, the North Brookfield, MA maker of Vibram footwear soling products and pet performance gear, is teaming with Fetchdog.com on a limited-edition dog toy to help fund Puppies Behind Bars’ “DogTags: Service Dogs for Those Who’ve Served Us” program. The DogTags Chewy Shoe toy features a tough cord for pulling and throwing and is made from the same molds and Vibram rubber used to make military boots. For every red, white and blue toy purchased, $2 will be contributed to the not-for-profit training program.
