The American Apparel & Footwear Association (AAFA) named Ruthie Davis Footwear Designer of the Year at its 36th Annual American Image Awards last night at the Grand Hyatt in New York City. “It is a huge honor to be listed amongst past recipients of these awards such as John Bartlett, Badgley Mischka, Diane von Furstenberg and Oscar de la Renta.
New York shoe designer Ruthie Davis has joined forces with Duckie Brown for the brand’s first foray into womenswear. The Ruthie Davis (Heart) Duckie Brown collection is a culmination of Davis’ aesthetic and Duckie Brown’s ability to blend whimsical sportswear with elegant tailoring. The line features two color-blocked pumps in jewel tones including navy, fuschia, magenta and olive hues. Rich, saturated leathers in unexpected color combinations are juxtaposed against Davis’ high-shine rose and yellow gold signature architectural heels.
Manhattan shoe designer Ruthie Davis completed her fifth ING New York City Marathon on November 3 with a time of 4:01:27, the exact same time she ran it at the age of 22. Marking the largest marathon in history, Davis finished 16,502 out of the 50,000 that crossed the line. So her fans and followers could stay in touch during the marathon, the designer’s running gear was emblazoned with her social media handle @Ruthie_Davis.
