Luichiny opens flagship store in Florence.

Florence is famous for many things. Art. History. Beautiful buildings. Gelato. Season four of MTV’s Jersey Shore. Now the Italian city is home to a Luichiny flagship store, too. Located near the Piazza della Repubblica, the 800-square-foot space stocks the brand’s entire collection of shoes and boots. “Putting our footprint down in Florence is a key component of our global brand and distribution strategy,” says Diane Butrus, COO of Luichiny’s parent company, Demand Shoes LLC.

Salvatore Ferragamo exhibition opens in Florence.

Fashion, art and dreams combine in “The Amazing Shoemaker – Fairy Tales and Legends about Shoes and Shoemakers,” at the Museo Ferragamo in Florence, Italy. Running from Apr. 19 to Mar. 31, the exhibition takes a look at the plethora of fairy tales, myths and stories based around shoemakers and shoes, including Cinderella, Puss in Boots and The Wizard of Oz – and let’s not forget the “fairy tale” of Salvatore Ferragamo himself, a man who pursued his dream of creating beautiful shoes that would inspire for generations.
