You’ve got one chance to take an extra-special sneak peek at Cat Footwear’s SS16 collection before it arrives in stores, and you won’t want to miss it. The brand, known for its tough-as-nails work boots, is taking an ephemeral approach to introducing its new styles for men and women. Tonight at 9pm EST, fans can visit the Cat Footwear website to view a four-minute video fashion show in which models show off fresh looks for next spring and summer through breakdancing and creative movement. The video will premiere at Cat’s global distributors’ conference, taking place tonight in Grand Rapids, MI, but is being made available to a wider consumer audience for just 24 hours.
Footwear Plus got an exclusive look at a clip from the video, in which bold black and white graphics are interspersed with cool effects and set to an atmospheric, industrial beat—a perfect match for Cat’s rugged aesthetic. The video, produced by design studio Someoddpilot, showcases the brand’s SS16 collection, which draws inspiration from the British cool kids who adopted Cat’s original Colorado boot in the 1990s as an interpretation of the American grunge movement (as well as the modern-day celebs from across the pond, like Jessie J and Rita Ora, who have been bringing the style back of late with a streetwear-chic twist).
Expect new takes on the classic Colorado silhouette for SS16, including fashion-forward floral prints for women that Dani Zizak, VP of global marketing, calls an “ironic feminine touch [that] plays to the riskier female consumer who dresses with an agenda to stand out.” For men, there are on-trend oxfords and chukka boots that pay homage to Cat’s heritage workwear DNA while incorporating refined, modern touches.
See for yourself—check out this exclusive teaser video for a taste, then tune in tonight at 9pm for the full experience.
