Pretty in Portland

Located in Portland, OR’s Pearl District, POSH Baby is a one-stop lifestyle shop in a boutique setting. The 2,000-square-foot flagship store carries modern and eco-friendly products for babies and children, as well as maternity essentials and accessories for mom.

The shop’s owner, Natalie Peters-Martin, believes what sets POSH apart from other boutiques is exceptional customer service. “I always have two to four staff people on the floor at any time,” she says. “You just cannot give great service with less than that.”

Specifically, Peters-Martin caters to first- and second-time parents who are eco-conscious, urban and love to shop locally. She describes their typical kid as a “Tea Collection girl and a Appaman or Knuckleheads boy.” POSH also has an ecommerce shop at www.poshbaby.com. “We ship all over the world,” she says.

POSH’s most in-demand shoe brands of late are Livie and Luca and See Kai Run. Livie and Luca formed in 2005, the same year as POSH. The brand prides itself on uniquely colored leathers, bold designs and whimsical touches that preserve the playful essence of childhood. The second most popular brand, See Kai Run, is serious about the health of children’s developing feet and, as a result, has been awarded the American Podiatric Medical Association’s Seal of Acceptance for foot health. Other brands in the mix include Robeez, Eleven Collection, Rider, Beeko and Aussi Dogs. Leading the way in clothing brands at POSH are Tea Collection, Monte Designs, Oeuf, Bumbleride, and its own brand, POSH Baby.

Despite the tough economic times over the past couple years, Peters-Martin is pleased with the business’ growth and hopes to open additional outlets. “Despite a recession, we have grown over the past few years,” she says. “I hope to continue that and expand the business into other markets.” —Meagan Walker
