The Shoe Service Institute of America (SSIA), the authoritative source on the construction, repair and maintenance of footwear and leather goods, released its 2019 membership poll on the most well-made shoes in the world. Considerations that went into voting were comfort, durability, Goodyear welting, and leather soles, linings and uppers. The results that represented the votes of more than 500 cobblers, industry craftsman and their wholesale trading partners and suppliers are as follows:
Women’s Construction:
• Below $200: Cole Haan
• $200 – $500: Jack Rogers tied with Stuart Weitzman
• Over $500: Ferragamo
Men’s Construction:
• Below $200: Thursday Boot Company
• $200 – $500: Allen Edmonds
• Over $500: Alden
• Over $1,000: John Lobb
