Chicken and high tops? Yes, please. Releasing at retail tomorrow, Fila partners with Sweet Chick for a unique and fun spin on the Cage basketball retro sneaker. The collaboration will feature two iterations of the silhouette that align with the restaurants’ chicken-and-waffles signature dish. New York born-and-bred restauranteur John Seymour has had a love (addiction) for sneakers all his life. Seymour has a way of being at the right place at the right time; he met the Director of Fila Heritage at an event and chatted him up about the Sweet Chick brand and lifestyle. Everyone agreed—the two brands aligned on every level—and wanted to collaborate on a pair of kicks.
The two cage colorways come dressed in premium suede in biking red and cream. Lace medallions are an immediate pop, with “Chicken” and “Waffles” appearing on opposite sneakers. Other details include a gum outsole, tumbled leather cage, dual collaborative logos on opposing tongues, decorative logo detail on the back tongue and sock lining and custom foot-bed. Custom packaging will include iconic cage box with dual branding.
