Skechers 6th Annual Pier to Pier Friendship Walk Breaks Record

The event earned over $1.1 million to benefit education and The Friendship Circle charity.

A brand true its roots, Skechers supports the Manhattan Beach community with ongoing programs to benefit children. The Skechers Foundation, formed in 2010 by the Greenberg family, teamed up with The Friendship Circle, an organization dedicated to assisting those with special needs. Together, they launched the Skechers Pier to Pier Friendship Walk, a 3.5 mile walk along the beach from Manhattan Beach Pier down to the Hermosa Beach Pier and back.

The Friendship Circle

The 6th annual event occurred in October 2014 and raised over $1.1 million for The Friendship Circle, as well as six education foundations. This is the largest donation total in the history of the walk and more than 150 celebrated at the check presentation event last week in Manhattan Beach at Shade Hotel. Celebrities from ABC Family’s The Fosters Gavin Macintosh and Hayden Byerly joined model and actress Courtney Sixx, actress Kelly Brook of NBC’s new One Big Happy and fitness guru Denise Austin, among others, at the presentation.

The Skechers Foundation maintains its dedication to embracing those with special needs, improving education and empowering disadvantaged youth through nonprofit organizations that provide education and job training, shoes, clothing, fitness and nutrition guidance to communities in Souther California, across the U.S. and around the world.
