Shoe Style at NYMD

The best footwear from New York Men's Day Spring/Summer '17 presentations.

New York Fashion Week: Men’s kicked off yesterday with New York Men’s Day, sponsored by Cadillac. Designers premiered Spring/Summer ’17 looks that fell mostly into two camps—tropical island–inspired and minimal utilitarian. For footwear, sneakers and espadrilles won the day. Check out some of our favorites.

David Naman
Apparel and footwear designer David Naman presented light, vacation-ready looks paired with unique takes on athletic footwear (above and top).
Athletic sandals paired with light, breezy fabrics were inspired by the freedom of the 1920s in Wood House’s presentation.
PLAC’s SS17 collection is inspired by the works of David Hockney with contemporary interpretations of his classic, ’60s attitude. Tough shoes by Dr. Martens featured athletic bottoms.
With the theme “paradise,” light fabrics and breezy linens dominated at Max ‘N Chester. With merengue music playing in the background, espadrilles were the obvious shoe of choice.
Island vibes met California cool at David Hart. Tribal prints, bright colors and ’60s silhouettes were paired with espadrilles from Toms.
A forever classic, Converse Chuck Taylors were paired across the board with military-inspired, utilitarian looks at Maiden Noir.
Look 3
Private Policy’s minimal-modern looks had a bit of street inspiration, the perfect match for classic white Vans.
