Rack Room Shoes Opens Call for ‘2021 Teacher of the Year” Contest Nominations

Rack Room Shoes has launched its annual Teacher of the Year contest to celebrate the upcoming back-to-school season. Designed to honor teachers around the nation, individuals can recognize their favorite educators by nominating teachers who encourage and nurture students’ goals. Through the online contest the Charlotte, NC-based family shoes chain will award five winning schools a technology grant valued at $10,000 each. In addition, each winning teacher will receive free shoes for a year (equivalent to a $45 store voucher for 12 consecutive months).

“Rack Room Shoes has a long history of giving back to the communities we serve,” says said Brenda Christmon, senior director of Brand Communications. “Honoring teachers—especially after a year that required them to be more agile, flexible and creative than ever before— is a natural extension of our commitment to celebrating those who assist, encourage and help others without expecting anything in return.” Christmon adds, “We are eager to learn the stories of how teachers have gone above and beyond to connect with students during a season that was anything but normal.”
