Two Ten Footwear Foundation, the national charitable foundation of the footwear industry, teamed up with National Shoe Travelers (NST) to offer a new annual scholarship to fund higher education for NST members and their families. The donation of $1 million is added to the $1.5 million endowment already made to Two Ten in 2012 in an effort to recognize and improve the lives of traveling sales representatives who work in the footwear industries. It will be implemented immediately and open to recipients for Fall 2015. The scholarship of up to $5,000 per year for four years will be based on merit and financial need and made available to members, as well as to their children and grandchildren.
Two Ten has been providing scholarships for 45 years and partnering with them was an obvious choice according to Terry Bastis, president of NST. “As a Charity Navigator 4-star ranked nonprofit, we have the utmost confidence in Two Ten to steward these funds well,” he says. They will add this to their roster of other industry-wide scholarships, including those made to U.S. Veterans, whose applications are available through their website at www.twoten.org/scholarships.
