GT_2014Web-Banner_250x250_BlueAltToday is Giving Tuesday, and Mia Cares, the philanthropic arm of Miami-based brand Mia Shoes, is joining the movement with two initiatives designed to help women gain independence and succeed in the workforce. Joining with Dress for Success, Mia Cares will donate 80 pairs of business heels and flats to help at-risk women and youth to have the confidence and positive self-image to do their best in job interviews, enter and succeed in the workforce and achieve economic self-sufficiency. In addition, Mia Cares will partner with Shoes Dsire, a shoe directory app, in donating two pairs of shoes each to two young mothers in need in the Coral Springs, FL, area, as well as deliver toys and gifts to the children of both.

“It’s important for us as a company to help women become independent, successfully join the workforce and support their families,” says Maria Strauss, fashion director and SVP of Mia Shoes. Creative Director Suzanne Leslie believes that the holiday season is a time to lend a helping hand. “Everyone at one time needs a little help getting back on their feet and we are proud to not only help those who need it, but also help spread the word about giving back,” she says.
