Tie-up stilettos that skew less-is-more offer a modern update on the lace-up sandals of Spring ’14. This season’s laces look best when kept at ankle height. Take your cues from the runways and follow in the footsteps of Etro, Marchesa and Thakoon–keep your heels high but your laces low. Etro’s iterations feel foreign while Marchesa’s look elegant (left) and Thakoon’s architectural creations (far left) sporty. Tassel and bead adornments give simple silhouettes a taste of the exotic without going overboard, while mixed media adds subtle textural interest.
