Are you in the market for a shoe that’s 73 inches tall and 77 inches long? If so, Kenneth Cole has what you need. The much-lauded designer teamed with Today Show correspondent Jill Martin to break the Guinness World Record for Largest High Heel Replica Shoe Commercially Available (bet you didn’t know that was even a category) with a 6.5-foot version of the brand’s lug-soled Otto bootie.
The duo hired Izquierdo Studio, a specialty prop and costume company for theater and film sets, to construct the big boot, which is made from 6,000 square feet of calfskin and hand-cut foam, weighs nearly 150 pounds and features a fully functional zipper as well as a buckle created with a 3-D printer.
Starting tomorrow, the sculpture will be on display on the newly renovated shoe floor in Lord & Taylor’s New York City flagship. From 10 a.m. today until 6 p.m. tomorrow, a portion of proceeds from the sale of the regular-size Otto heels on kennethcole.com will go to New York-based charity Garden of Dreams Foundation.
