Hurricane Matthew wrecked devastation on the island nation of Haiti, and shoepeople are doing their part to help. On Oct. 12, Spenco Footwear donated 1,000 pairs to struggling victims throughSoles4Souls‘ Texas distribution center.
“Imagine facing the worst natural disaster your country has ever seen with lives lost, roads and homes torn apart, and disease spreading. Now imagine facing that disaster with bare feet,” adds Pattie Graben, director of corporate development at Soles4Souls, a not-for-profit global social enterprise committed to fighting poverty through the collection and distribution of shoes and clothing.
“When we see a tragedy causing suffering to the degree we’ve seen in Haiti, most of us wonder if there is anything we can do to help,” offers Jeff Antonioli, vice president of sales and marketing for Spenco Footwear. “Hurricane victims need shoes, and if we can help 1,000 of those victims, we are happy to provide them some relief.”
