Non-profit Dress for Success is once again turning December 1 into a shoe day—a shoe donation day, that is.
December 1 is widely recognized as an international day of charity with the hashtag #GivingTuesday. Dress for Success, dedicated to empowering women to achieve economic independence by providing development tools and professional attire, is once again turning the day into #GivingShoesDay. For the fourth year in a row, the non-profit is encouraging its supporters to donate professional shoes. Last year, participants gave over 6,000 pairs.
This year, Dress for Success has teamed up with Aldo to award the top 10 individual shoe donors throughout North America with a $250 Aldo gift card. The shoe retailer will also donate gift cards to the top three Dress for Success affiliates (there are more than 140 around the world) that collect the most shoes. For example, California Closets is an affiliate, opening their showrooms for drop-offs. Customers who bring shoes to California Closets between November 15 and December 31 will receive a discount on closet design and installation.
Since the inception of #GivingShoesDay in 2012, Dress for Success has collected over 8,400 pairs of shoes. To participate, “shoe gooders” can visit the Dress for Success affiliate list detailing donation sites.
What are you waiting for? “Shoe your best” and give!
