Socially responsible footwear brand Freewaters has produced a Channel Islands Surfboards sandal collection for men for Spring ’15 that will debut at next month’s Surf Expo. Each of the four styles features a different material and footbed graphic story and the iconic Channel Islands hex logo is molded and inserted into the outsole of each flip, which leaves behind an imprint in the sand with every step.
“Clean water is such a basic need for humankind and I was impressed with Freewaters’ mission statement,” says Al Merrick, founder of Channel Islands Surfboards, referring to the California-based company’s commitment to supporting clean drinking water projects. “The opportunity to build a sandal for surfers to enjoy and do something to benefit others struck home.”
John Gothard, vice president of sales at Freewaters, notes, “Sandals and surfboards are a natural fit. Our goal with this partnership is to offer fresh and very authentic product to specialty shops. It’s an honor to be associated with the world’s most respected surboard manufacturer.”
