In a continued effort to build WSA into a premiere national footwear event that encompasses the breadth of the market, show owner ENK International has announced the addition of its Sole Commerce show to the upcoming exhibition at The Venetian Hotel and Sands Expo Center in Las Vegas, Feb. 7-9, 2011. The Sole Commerce Pavilion at WSA is designed to enhance retailers’ experience by offering an exclusive showcase of leading fashion footwear brands and designers.

“For almost a decade, Sole Commerce (held in conjunction with ENK’s Fashion Coterie apparel show) has been a highlight of the footwear show calendar in New York, catering to the most discerning of buyers,” says David Kahan, president of ENK Footwear. “The addition of the Sole Commerce Pavilion will provide retailers a glimpse of the best fashion footwear available in the marketplace, making WSA truly a one-stop buying venue.”

Previous Sole Commerce exhibitors have included Andre Assous, Calvin Klein, Frye, Hunter, Irregular Choice, Camper, Claudia Ciuti, Robert Clergerie, Rock & Republic, Thierry Rabotin, Chinese Laundry, Daniblack, Jeffrey Campbell, Kelsi Dagger, Libby Edelman, L.A.M.B., TOMS and Via Spiga. Kahan says the Sole Commerce pavilion’s latest exhibitor list as well as the final format details are still in the works, but assures it will have a distinctive vibe and décor.

Maria Carvalho, show coordinator for Sole Commerce, says one of the ongoing strengths of the boutique-type show has been its eclectic mix of exhibitors. “We have always curated our exhibitor list; it’s not a case where any and all can become a part of Sole Commerce,” she says. Specifically, Carvalho says the show has featured a range of prices beyond the upper tier as well as a wide array of trends, which increasingly meets the flexible needs of boutique buyers today. “The goal is always to create a venue for the latest trends—all presented in an easy-to-shop format,” she says. Carvalho adds, “Sole Commerce at WSA brings the best fashion elements that our retailers and exhibitors have enjoyed in New York for a decade. It will be a powerful footwear market with perfect dates for our retailers.”

Additionally, WSA will introduce a schedule of seminars offering retailers and exhibitors a platform to discuss and learn about new trends, buying strategies and the latest business practices from industry experts who know what it takes to succeed. Kahan says the seminars are developed specifically to give attendees critical information, viable ideas and inspiration that will impact how much they sell—and how much they profit—for the next season and beyond.
