To meet the style needs of the ever-evolving Rocket Dog girl, the California-based company is introducing the more upscale Unleashed by Rocket Dog for Spring ’11. Designer Lauretta Reiss says the new line’s fresh takes on espadrilles, sandals, feminine crochet details and bold retro prints warrant the attention of girls with more discriminating taste.
The new addition is a sliver of what is bound to be Rocket Dog’s largest collection of women’s footwear to date. Returning style favorites—the Memories flat, Clover espadrille and the Orient dress shoe—are refreshed in new colorways and lay the groundwork of a line-up which also includes new Mary Janes, ballerinas, peep-toe silhouettes and banded sandals. “We’re really excited about how our consumer continues to love our collections of softer casual styles,” says Rocket Dog designer Tanya Bartels, adding that both the Rocket Dog and Unleashed collections tie-in with the expected to be ongoing romper, skinny jeans and short shorts trends.
Specifically, Bartels says Rocket Dog will focus on two key stories for next spring: LA Belle Provence and World Market. “LA Belle Provence takes cues from simple femininity,” she notes. The grouping blends silhouettes reminiscent of thrift store finds with delicate floral prints and flirty stripes and polka dots. World Market infuses eclectic global influences with an emphasis on handcrafted woven details, playful beading and lively ethnic prints. Washed or worn fabrics, linens and suede are carried throughout both groups. Other styles are given wood or cork finishes, jute wraps and touches of embroidery. Suggested retail prices range from $39 to $79.
Resort ’11 apparel collections revisited seaside looks of a bygone era. Classic colors, pops of white and sailor stripes reverberate throughout Marc Jacob’s and Miu Miu’s collections. Look for footwear designers to add sporty nautical elements to boardwalk-ready styles.
