Footbed sandals, mules and pool slides paved the way for the newest member of the “pretty ugly” shoe family–the flatform. Initially the style seemed to be a passing fad instigated by Miuccia Prada and Derek Lam back in 2011, but after its many, many cameos on the Spring 2015 runways we are here to say: it’s here to stay. A sandal-wedge hybrid, the style quite literally elevates any look. And with the resurgence of ’70s-inspired dressing, it’s no surprise that designers decided to couple their billowing maxi skirts and baby blue bell bottoms with the chunky-soled favorite of the era’s disco divas, taking next spring’s collections from Marni, Roberto Cavalli (above, from left) and Salvatore Ferragamo to new heights.
