Image and video hosting by TinyPicWith more than 14 years of retail buying under belt, Brittany Moeller brings her expertise to Off Broadway Shoe Warehouse as the Charlotte, NC-based chain’s women’s buyer. In her new role, she’s charged with formulating an assortment of women’s leading brands in footwear, handbags and small leather goods for more than 75 stores nationwide as well as the company’s website.  “I’m excited to utilize my industry expertise and bring a fresh perspective to the Off Broadway Shoe Warehouse team. I also look forward to leveraging my strong industry relationships in my new position,” says Moeller, who most recently spent four years as the classic dress shoes and handbags buyer for DSW. Here, she shares her strategies and top trends for the upcoming season.

Q: What’s your buying philosophy? A: Listen to your team and your vendors, and do your research. Gather all of the facts before determining what categories or trends to pursue.

Q: What do you look for in a brand or style when you’re buying? A: The quality of the material and details, the comfort features and trend relevance. Also, it’s important to consider the product quality and price point. I always look for brands that are aspirational and trusted.

Q: What are some of the store’s key trends for Spring ’15? A: Spring is one of Off Broadway Shoe’s favorite times of the year, and I’m really looking forward to what will be available for our customers for the season. Our shelves will be filled with lots of jewels, foot bed sandals, wedges and great bright prints, especially on dress shoes.

Q: What about key colors? A: We will be seeing lots of white, metallic–including silver and soft gold–and red. Bright summer colors will be popular, but they will be showing up mostly in prints.

Q: Any trends you’re tired of? A: Honestly, I’m a little over the black and white trend, although I saw some fresh takes on it while buying in Europe that may give it staying power.
