All eyes were on Solillas on Nov. 6, when the sandal brand was awarded Most Export Potential by the British Footwear Association and FN Platform at the 8th annual Footwear Friends Awards Ceremony in London. Jonathan Matthews, founding director, was on hand to accept the award, which includes a gratis booth at February’s edition of FN Platform in Las Vegas.
“At one point, even the most well-known brands represented at FN Platform were just starting out, hoping to build their brand and business. This is why we feel it is so important to support new and emerging talent,” says Leslie Gallin, president of footwear at Advanstar Communications, Inc.
Designed in London and Ibiza and made in Menorca, Solillas marries Balearic craftsmanship with London flair to offer a fun update on the traditional Menorcan leather sandal. The brand launched online in 2011 before hitting the U.K. high street in 2013 in the likes of Urban Outfitters and Office. The opportunity to showcase its wares at FN Platform could lead to Solillas making its U.S. debut in 2015.
