Love (Luv)
noun, verb
1. A profoundly tender, passionate affection for another
The geometric angles and multifaceted heel shapes in Raphael Young’s latest collection aren’t for old-guard aesthetes, but those who want to be noticed will have found their red pill in his modish and modern ankle booties and wedges. Finsk also boots up for fall with double cone-shaped heels, erratic wedges, triangular panels and pops of silver and gold with the occasional ray of bright.
Gilded Age
Bruno Frisoni makes a brazen statement with this zigzag-edged platform heel, but subdues the statement shoe with muted blocks of bronze, gold and silver. Conversely, Pierre Hardy cranks the luminescence back up with a light-reflecting ankle bootie that conjures Star Trek while demanding star treatment.
Solar Systems
Both Donna Karan and Brian Atwood propel the stiletto light years ahead with heels so slim they defy laws of science and so high the wearer may scrape the outer atmosphere. Moody colors and reptilian textures hint at the dark side, but hidden platforms boost the wearability and offer a commanding look with out-of-this-world appeal.
