Great Heights:
European brands are just as jazzed about boots as their American counterparts, if the recent GDS show was any evidence, and designers have gone to extremes for fall. Here, some highlights—and “low”-lights—from the latest collections.

Get Low

Short boots aren’t short on style this season, as even casual ankle-grazers get finessed with special details—think knit cuffs, broken-in leathers and woven yarns. While high-heeled booties continue to be hot, more wearable heel heights and cute flats provide alternatives for those seeking everyday comfort.

Middle Ground

Boots that reach to the calf pair perfectly with that now-basic staple in every woman’s closet: leggings. From loose-at-the-cuff pull-ons to sexier fitted silhouettes, Euro brands are turning out versatile options that appeal to a breadth of personal tastes.

Up to There

Statement-making over-the-knee boots seeped onto metropolitan streets last fall, and we won’t be shocked if this season they reach countrywide critical mass. Just as popular: a new slew of knee-skimming designs, which designers agree women gravitate to each and every autumn.
