Leah Larson, Ugg’s vice president of product, says Italy was the first and best place for the brand to look to for inspiration. “Designers and consumers both have a love affair with Italy, specifically the elegance and quality evoked by the country,” she explains.
To that end, Larson says the collection conveys “rugged luxe” by blending the comfort Ugg is known for with fashion-forward silhouettes and materials in saturated shades of brandy, army, indigo and chestnut, popped with leopard print hair calf. “Our customers have come to expect the unexpected,” Larsen says, adding the brand continually develops new ways for loyalists to incorporate Ugg into every season and occasion.
Standout styles include the Cavalieri, a versatile Chelsea ankle boot with a stacked heel and a detachable leather shaft to create a knee-high boot; the Aniela 4-inch platform heel built upon Ugg’s signature rubber lug sole; and the Fiorentina, a thigh-high wedge boot made with 100 percent Spanish Merino twinface with exposed stitching. The rustic look is carried throughout the handbags, made with Vachetta leather, haircalf and suede, and embellished with signature Ugg hardware.
The Ugg Collection will be available beginning this September in select retailers as well as at Ugg flagship stores and on www.uggaustralia.com. Suggested retail for the footwear ranges from $495 to $1,195 and handbags are priced from $650 to $1,950. —Angela Velasquez
