The most enviable designer shoes gracing red carpets this awards season tell a story of light and dark, good and evil, delicate and sexy—just like the psychological thriller, The Black Swan.

The hit movie is generating plenty of Oscar buzz as well as helping dictate fashion trends (Viktor & Rolf’s pre-Fall ’11 dress shirts are preening with plumage) and starlets are exploring their inner prima ballerina with shades of cream and nude, ladylike peep toes and girlish sparkle. Or, in the case of Black Swan actress Mila Kunis, vamping up her gown with black ribbon-like ankle ties and satin stilettos that leave admirers on the tip of their toes.
