Fashion’s biggest night of the year, The Metropolitan Museum’s Costume Institute Gala, marked the opening of the Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty exhibit with a fete that embodied the late designer’s penchant for theatrics.

McQueen-loyalists Daphne Guinness, Sarah Jessica Parker and Coco Rocha were just a few of the guests that paid tribute to the designer by wearing gowns from the label’s archives and by McQueen’s successor—and Kate Middleton’s wedding dress designer—Sarah Burton, who made her first appearance since the royal wedding. And in the mix of McQueen signatures—endless trains, plumage and fancy hats—were an eclectic mix of wearable spring trends. Here’s our top four. —Angela Velasquez
