Bearpaw’s Up Country Collection Ups the Outdoor Fashion Ante

Bearpaw is introducing its Up Country collection, a new line that stylishly captures the essence of the great outdoors, for Fall ’11. Debuting first at the upcoming Outdoor Retailer show in Salt Lake City (Aug. 4-7), the collection is the Citrus Heights, CA-based sheepskin purveyor’s latest step towards redefining fashionable outdoor footwear.

Bearpaw Vice President of Sales and Marketing Randy McKinley says the range retools the durability and function adventurers demand from their trail footwear into three street-ready boots lined with the company’s signature sheepskin. “The Up Country collection is designed to offer our current consumer a new, more contemporary look and a true outdoor feel,” he explains. Scaled down, feminine lugged soles and sophisticated hardware are key traits of the all-suede collection.

Styles include the Kayla II, a mid-shaft lace-up boot accented with oversize metal eyelets; the Chloe II, a double strap boot with metal buckles; and the Kiera II, a front lace boot with a plaid collar that can be worn up or down. “It adds a little sass to the look,” McKinley says of the latter.

Up Country, which retails between a suggested $99.99 and $104.99, will be first offered to independent accounts—the “mom and pop shops that carry the newest and greatest in trendy footwear,” McKinley notes. Grouped together with the rest of the Bearpaw fall line, McKinley says the shoes will create a visually appealing story on sales floors. “This won’t be our biggest or highest volume collection, but it will set the stage for new styles season after season from Bearpaw.” —Angela Velasquez
