Under Armour honored with innovation award.

Clio Sports, an international competition honoring creative excellence in sports, has announced Under Armour as the recipient of the Clio Sports Brand Innovation Award. The global apparel, footwear and equipment brand, led by Founder and CEO Kevin Plank, will be lauded for its creative impact on the sports industry during a July 17 ceremony at Cipriani Midtown in New York City, hosted by ESPN Radio’s Mike Golic and Mike Greenberg of Mike & Mike in the Morning.

PacSun celebrated the longest day of the year with its first ever Golden State of Mind Day.

The Summer Solstice and official first day of summer fell on a Saturday this year and PacSun took full advantage, turning the longest day of the year into its first ever Golden State of Mind Day. The Anaheim, CA-based retailer swept the nation with 20-hours of events and activites across the country. The festivities kicked off on June 21 at sunrise  in Puerto Rico with Hurley Pro surfers Nat Young and Brian Toth. A gathering at Miami Beach in Florida brought together sun seekers who were treated to GSOM-themed umbrella and towels.

Skechers sues Reebok for copying its Go Walk shoes.

Skechers USA has announced that a lawsuit has been filed against Reebok International Ltd. for selling shoes that infringe on the Manhattan Beach, CA-based brand’s Go Walk line. The suit, filed in the United States District Court for the Central District of California, seeks compensatory and punitive damages as well as injunctive relief for infringing on Skechers’ patent and trade dress rights and for unfair competition. The suit states that Reebok is selling the infringing products under the name Reebok Walk Ahead RS.

Hundreds of industry members came out to honor Dave Grange, president of Lacoste Footwear, NA, last Wednesday at Two Ten Footwear Foundation’s YP210 event at Suite 36 in New York.
