It seems like here at Footwear Plus we can’t get enough of the trendsetter royals, and they can never seem to have enough pairs of Aquatalia by Marvin K. shoes. The Duchess of Cambridge has been spotted several times wearing the Italian-made brand, and now a boot has been named after her fashionista sister, Pippa.
The Chief Operating Officer and Fashion Director, Rena Krasnow (daughter of Marvin Krasnow, founder and president of the brand) said Pippa Middleton’s “great sense of style” inspired the tubular boot after her namesake. “[The ‘Pippa’] can accommodate any woman’s leg and it’s extremely sophisticated looking,” she says. The boot has no fascinators or zippers and simply slides onto the leg. The “Pippa” retails for $725.
The brand is over 20 years old and is a family-run business. All Aquatalia by Marvin K. shoes are made in Italy and the company is based in Montreal. The brand’s mission is to blend modern footwear technology with the old craftsmanship of Italy to make a luxury shoe with the finest materials a woman can wear every day.
Krasnow, who currently works in the brand’s New York studio, noted that Aquatalia by Marvin K. is opening a Midtown showroom in July. The Fall 2012 collection ranges in retail price from $350 to $700.
What should we look for in the Fall 2012 collection?
We’re doing some great trends. We’re showing some fabulous color block stories, and there are some equestrian stories that we’re carrying over for the fall as well. Some of our shoes also feature exciting hardware and ornaments. We have some fur-inspired styles, as well as some great wedge wear and classic pumps.
What changes have you made with this collection compared with past ones?
I think it’s completely innovative, a very new direction. The brand is getting much more fashion-forward. We’re speaking to a new consumer while still maintaining our old, loyal customer. If you look at our collection there really is something for everybody.
