Minnetonka Moccasin Company kicked off two new initiatives this week to coincide with We Day Minnesota. As the Green Energy Partner and Supporting Sponsor for the event, the brand helped launch the year-long We Act program, an international partnership with schools, groups and students that provides educational resources to help students commit to taking one local and one global action to better the world.
At an event Tuesday by Disney Channel actresses Bridgit Mendler and Debby Ryan at the Xcel Center in St. Paul, attendees were treated to special performances by The Jonas Brothers, Carly Rae Jepsen and the Kenyan Boys Choir and heard inspiring stories from Demi Lovato and Mia Farrow.
To further its engagement with We Day and its goal of taking action, Minnetonka announced Me to We Week, a company pledge that $3 from every pair sold on the brand’s website this week will go toward building a one-room school in Haiti, which shares the island of Hispaniola with the Dominican Republic where the company produces moccasins. Additionally Minnetonka has committed to funding a scholarship for a Me to We volunteer trip to Ecuador or Nicaragua, offering a deserving student the opportunity to take part in one of these global experiences.
