Tim Adams, chief private brand officer of Macy’s, will chair the Two Ten Footwear Foundation’s 2009 Annual Dinner. In addition to being Two Ten’s most critical fundraiser, this year’s event, slated for Dec. 2 at the Marriott Marquis in New York’s Times Square, celebrates the industry charity’s 70th anniversary.
“Having attended the annual dinner for the last several years, I know just how important this event is to Two Ten,” Adams says. “Given these economic times, it’s that much more important for the industry to show it’s appreciation for what we have and compassion for those who are in need by giving from the heart.”
The dinner committee, comprised of leaders and representatives from more than 35 footwear companies, has set a goal of raising more than $1 million in support of Two Ten’s programs and services—a mark met for the first time at last year’s dinner. “We’ve set an ambitious but necessary goal this year,” notes Peggy Kim Meill, president of Two Ten. “With calls for assistance increasing, it is our responsibility—and our great desire—to meet this need. We know with Tim’s guidance and the incredible volunteer power of the dinner committee, we will do just that.”
Proceeds from the event support Two Ten’s programs and services, including financial assistance, counseling, community resources, scholarships and web-based job search help.
