Etnies Skates for a Cause

You can walk and bike for a cause, but thanks to skate-shoe brand Etnies and The Sheckler Foundation--a philanthropic organization created by teen skater Ryan Sheckler and his family--you can skate for a cause, too.

This past Saturday, Etnies and The Sheckler Foundation hosted the "Skate for a Cause" event to help raise money for the A.skate charity's summer "Be the Change" tour that benefits Autism Spectrum, an organization that helps children with autism.

This past Saturday, Etnies and The Sheckler Foundation hosted the “Skate for a Cause” event to help raise money for the A.skate charity’s summer “Be the Change” tour that benefits Autism Spectrum, an organization that helps children with autism.

On May 5, more than 30 pro skaters, thousands of fans and 26 sponsors gathered in San Clemente, CA, for the event, which raised $86,620–far more than the fundraising goal of $57,000.

Skaters like Sean Sheffey and Sheckler himself competed in five skateboarding contests, with the winners taking a prize purse of $15,000 (most of which was donated to charity).
