David Tutera Unveils New Bridal Footwear Collection

Last month at the FN Platform show at MAGIC in Las Vegas, NV, celebrity wedding planner David Tutera debuted his bridal shoe collection. The lack of options in the bridal footwear category and the need for style variety and wear beyond the wedding day inspired Tutera to create his own line. "The more I thought about it, [brides] focus so much on the ring, and they focus so much on the dress, that they don't focus on the shoes because there really isn't the ability to find great shoes in fashion for brides," he says.

“The more I thought about it, [brides] focus so much on the ring, and they focus so much on the dress, that they don’t focus on the shoes because there really isn’t the ability to find great shoes in fashion for brides,” he says. “I thought, ‘Wait a minute–we’re making everything else look wonderful, their shoes are [just as] important!'”

The David Tutera Shoe Collection was developed in partnership with Antebi Footwear Group and features various styles from stilettos to flats in an array of colors, including nude, black, metallic and classic white. “We have something [for every bride],” Tutera notes. “We have sparkle, we’ve got vintage, we’ve got different heel heights, we’ve got different colors, we have wedges, platforms– we have everything in between that a girl can feel comfortable in.”

Comfort is a main focus in Tutera’s collection; he wants his brides to keep their shoes on from the moment they slip their feet into them until the very last dance of the night. “Some brides overacheive to wear something that they can’t be comfortable in, which is a disaster on wedding day because you spend so much time on the alterations for your dress that when you [take off] your shoe, your dress hemline changes,” he says. “I’m hoping that the brides feel confident enough to spend the money on the shoes, know there’s something for every style, and know there’s comfort for every girl.”

Each pair of shoes also features a blue Swarovski crystal in the heel for the bride’s “something blue.”

“What distinguishes me from other brands is that I feel like we’re a bridal brand, but more fashion forward,” Tutera reveals. “I feel that’s the most important thing because the brides can wear their shoes beyond just the wedding day.”

The David Tutera Shoe Collection is expected to be available beginning January 2013 in various department and specialty stores throughout the United States, Mexico and Canada, and can also be purchased online. The shoes range in price from $95 to $195. For more information go to www.davidtutera.com/footwear.php.
