As I glanced at the photos of Carrie parading around in her gold shoes, holding a gold Chanel clutch and wearing gold aviator shades, I thought, “Well, at least someone is unaffected by the recession.” I couldn’t help but wonder: Come next May, when the movie is expected to be released, will we see a second coming of fashion’s Gilded Age? Will girls return to stores and leave proudly displaying their collection of shopping bags?  Or is spending a rent’s-worth sum on an accessory too far flung of a fairytale? Are the scars from buyer’s remorse too fresh and deep? One thing is certain: If “SATC 2” is as big a blockbuster as the first film incarnation, perhaps rampant consumerism might experience a second life, too.
