Once again this holiday season the Pedestrian Shops are helping neighbors in need. The 41-year-old comfort footwear retailer will be raffling off its holiday Comfortable Shoe Tree—adorned with more than $4,000 worth of footwear, socks and accessories—as part of the Festival of Trees benefiting Meals on Wheels of Boulder, CO. The tree can be viewed at its downtown location at 1425 Pearl St.

Raffle tickets are $5 each and available on Meals on Wheels of Boulder’s website, mowboulder.org. The tree’s lucky winner will be able to choose any shoe style from Pedestrian’s inventory, from each brand represented on the tree. Winner will receive 35 pairs of shoes from a who’s who list of leading comfort brands, including Dansko, Merrell, Ecco, Clarks, Earthies, Tsubo, Pikolinos, New Balance, Crocs, Ugg and Vibram FiveFingers. The winner will also receive 18 pairs of socks from Smartwool and Goodhew, respectively, and handbags and accessories from Osgoode Marley, Haiku and Pepper’s.

This marks the fifth year Pedestrian Shops has participated in Meals on Wheels’ Festival of Trees. “It’s really fun to have this beautiful tree full of comfortable shoes in the middle of our store,” says Richard Polk, owner of the Pedestrian Shops. Meals on Wheels will hold the drawing for each tree on Dec. 16.

The Pedestrian Shops is also encouraging customers to bring a pair of new or slightly used shoes to either of its locations up until Dec. 11 to donate to local people in need. As always, a 10 percent discount will be provided to customers who donate shoes; however, a purchase is never required.

For 23 years, Pedestrian Shops has bi-annually collected used shoes for distribution by local assistance organizations. A second drive is held each April to celebrate Earth Day. The Pedestrian Shops has collected more than 35,000 pairs of shoes for reuse by people in need.
