As someone who suffers from chronic back pain, I've heard it all: walk more, rest more, lift weights, don't exercise, DO excercise, never wear high heels, never wear flats. The list goes on. But today's story from China really takes the biscuit. Zhang Fuxing, a factory worker, says walking in huge iron shoes weighing more than 440 pounds each can cure back pain.

As someone who suffers from chronic back pain, I’ve heard it all: walk more, rest more, lift weights, don’t exercise, DO excercise, never wear high heels, never wear flats. The list goes on. But today’s story from China really takes the biscuit. Zhang Fuxing, a factory worker, says walking in huge iron shoes weighing more than 440 pounds each can cure back pain.

“I’ve been walking with iron shoes for seven years,” Fuxing, 52, says, claiming he walks up to 15 metres each day in the shoes, which he has gradually increased in weight, and also touts them as a cure for hemorrhoids. “It’s not strong muscles that make you able to talk like this, the power comes from internal organs,” he adds. “When you walk with your heart it will work.”
